The initiative will meet the needs of providers, staff & patients alike.
WAUKESHA, WI & MALVERN, PA — [OCTOBER 31st, 2024] — ProHealth Care, a community-based health care system in southeastern Wisconsin, has partnered with adherent360, a leading provider of pharmacy automation technology to implement a cutting-edge kiosk-style automated physician-based medication dispensing platform. This initiative will redefine medication delivery for the Occupational Health Services team and local businesses receiving care at two clinics.
The adherent360 pharmacy platform — designed for health system pharmacies or physician settings — efficiently delivers pre-packaged, high-volume medications via automated dispensing machines and remote pharmacy management technology that minimizes the logistical constraints associated with traditional meds to beds programs. Patients have the option to receive their prescriptions and select OTC medications before they leave the facility.
Filling prescriptions directly in a physician’s clinic also allows the providers to improve medication adherence, reducing the risk of hospitalizations for at-risk patients, alleviating stress on staff, and increasing the number of patients served.
“In today’s quickly evolving retail pharmacy marketplace, offering medication services in new locations poses space, staff, and cost challenges,” explains James Semrad, vice president service line growth and strategy, and pharmacy for ProHealth. “A technology-enabled medication kiosk allows us to address all three challenges while offering increased cost savings and convenience for our patients.”
adherent360 CEO Steve Wilcher echoes those sentiments. “Over the past several years, it has become increasingly difficult for patients to access their prescription medications in a traditional retail setting,” he states. “adherent360 is excited to partner with ProHealth Care to support their occupational health model with our remote pharmacy and automated dispensing technology. Together, we are prioritizing patient convenience, and ultimately better patient outcomes.”
Both firms are optimistic about the benefits this partnership represents for providers, staff, local businesses, and patients alike. Based on the success of the program, ProHealth has plans to evaluate the adherent360 program for additional occupational health locations and ambulatory services in the future.
